Tenuous connections

bringing bad to some and good

to others.

 

From station to doorstep

a sister’s friend travels.

Unaware and uninformed

of the impression already made.

Relaxed with who you are.

 

A night of drink and talk

wore on,

with the weary taking to their beds.

Leaving two to talk

things forgotten yet firmly believed.

 

The train took you.

Followed by many lines

of enquiry and perhaps

apology.

To track down the lasting

impression

of you sat smoking on paving

silhouetted by the weak rays

of another starting day.
